In Praise of Green Tea - Magic Hour

In Praise of Green Tea

Posted by Alex Melen on

Green tea is bursting with wellness & variety: sencha, matcha and dragon pearls, to name a few that we have offered and incorporated in our Magic Hour blends.

Besides infusing you with calm energy, focus and a sense of peace, our organic, biodynamically-grown green tea helps to detox the body, aid liver function, and release weight.

Green tea imparts clarity of mind for studying, brainstorming, and creating—anytime your mind (and imagination) needs to shine!

Dragon Pearl Tea

As part of our 1-year anniversary Possibility Box, we featured Dragon Phoenix Jasmine Pearl: Tea of Divine Guidance. Early spring harvest young green tea buds are gently hand-rolled with night-blooming jasmine over the course of eleven nights in order for the tea to absorb the divine scent of jasmine perfume. Each night tea artisans harvest night-blooming jasmine & lay it gently to rest with the young tea buds. Each morning the tea artisans return to the tea drying room and remove the jasmine flowers, replacing them with fresh jasmine repeatedly until the tea buds have absorbed the pinnacle of jasmine perfume–often referred to as “the scent of God.”

Even though the health benefits of Dragon Pearl tea are rich, don’t forget its aesthetic beauty. We recommend our Essential Perfection clear glass tea pot to gaze meditatively as the pearls unfurl in the water.

Sencha Tea

We use organic sencha tea as the base for our delicious, sweet elixir, Almond Matcha Green Tea. Sencha is one of the most popular green teas in Japan and constitutes 80 percent of tea produced there. Based on an epidemiological study by Kazue Imai et. al., green tea “potentially has anticancer properties in humans. Also, the presence of polyphenols such as epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) helps induce cell death or apoptosis in cancerous cells.”

Matcha Tea

Unlike other varieties of green tea, matcha is consumed as a powder made from the whole leaf. Matcha is a wealth of antioxidants, an abundance of polyphenols, and  L-Theanine--an amino acid that increases alpha wave activity in the brain, reduces anxiety, and increases focus. Matcha alkalizes your body, protecting it from free-radicals that can create inflammation and disease.

Green teas, like matcha, are beneficial to maintaining bone health as well, according to many scientific studies

We imbue our popular Magic Hour Blend, Almond Matcha Green Tea, with its delicate, earthy flavor.

At Magic Hour we love drinking green tea to help complete focused, creative projects, since it balances both sides of the brain.

We are grateful for the gifts of green tea!
