Breathe Easier With Tulsi.

Posted by Kajal Ford on

Tulsi tea has been used as a religious, spiritual, and healing herb for more than 5000 years in India. Indian legend holds that Tulsi to be the earthly manifestation of the goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of Wealth and Fortune.

Aptly called Holy Basil, Tulsi is a revered Ayurvedic herb that has an incredibly rich array of beneficial effects on the nervous & circulatory (particularly protects the lungs) systems and immunity.

There is mounting evidence that tulsi can address physical, chemical, metabolic and psychological stress through a unique combination of pharmacological actions. (J Ayurveda Integr Med. 2014 Oct-Dec)

As an adaptogenic herb, Tulsi helps your body to chemically adapt to outside stressors and promote mental balance by halting production of the stress-hormone cortisol. Cortisol ages us and causes disease, Holy Basil/Tulsi is used to change the body’s chemistry to slow or stop the cortisol production and calms the nervous system–perfect for our current time, with so many people around the world suffering with uncertainty and experiencing immense levels of fear.

Tulsi boasts antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiprotozoal and antimalarial powers that can help preserve radiant health and boost immune defenses.

Tulsi's broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, which includes activity against a range of human and animal pathogens, suggests it can be used as a hand sanitizer, mouthwash and water purifier as well as in ... herbal raw materials and traveler's health. (J Ayurveda Integr Med. 2014 Oct-Dec)

Krishna Tulsi (black/purple), used in our Magic Hour tea blends Lucid Dreams and Child's Pose, is the strongest variety with the highest content of phenolic compounds and anti-oxidant properties.

Tulsi is also known to treat upper respiratory tract infections, bronchitis, coughs, and sore throat. It decreases airway inflammation making it easier to breathe and historically provides immediate benefits for asthmatic patients.

Child's Pose Herbal Tea uses tulsi as the base tea and is designed to calm the nervous system, ease the mind and promote healthful sleep. It includes all the antimicrobial benefits of tulsi and is like sipping liquid yoga!

Lucid Dreams Herbal Tea combines the benefits of tulsi with the traditional Ayurvedic Chai spices: Turmeric*, Ginger*, Cinnamon*, Nutmeg*, Cardamom*, Orange Peel*, Peppercorns*, Cloves*–all known to help prevent bacterial and viral infection. Turmeric is also anti-inflammatory & aids liver detoxification. Chai spices increase circulation and digestion, warming the body & the soul.

There's a reason that there are Chai Tea stalls everywhere in India; clean water is not easy to come by and the traditional chai spice blends protect from a wide array of microbes that could attack the body's immune system.
