7 Health Benefits of White Tea

Posted by Kajal Ford on

White tea is plucked before the buds fully open, still covered in delicate white hairs, and is less processed than black and green teas. White tea’s clean, bright taste reflects its purity.

There are numerous beneficial reasons to drink white tea–and since we are also enamored with the esoteric, here are seven reasons to drink up at least one heavenly cup each day:

  1. Boosts Metabolism & Prevents Formation Of New Fat Cells

White tea is a natural source to help keep the body slim and trim. Thanks to a type of catechin called EGCG, white tea extract was found to stimulate fat breakdown and prevent new fat cells from forming

Another study found that white tea can help boost your metabolism by as much as 5%, equivalent to burning an extra 70-100 calories per day!

  2. Reduces The Risk of Heart Disease

The catechins in white tea helps reduce overall inflammation in the body (a primary reason for the high incidence of heart disease; see benefit #7 below) and cholesterol levels, decreases blood pressure and improves the functioning of blood vessels.

  3. Inhibits Tooth Decay & The Formation of Plaque

Studies have found that polyphenols, flavonoids and tannins in white tea inhibits the formation of plaque on teeth. With natural and safe levels of fluoride content, this tea reduces the risk of tooth decay.

  4. Fights Cancer

Many research studies suggest that the polyphenols and antioxidants in white tea assists in the battle against cancer. They attack cancer cells yet also protect the healthy cells from DNA damage.

  5. Fights Colon Cancer

Food Chemistry’s study  found that white tea prevents colon cancer cells from reproducing and protects the DNA of healthy cells against cancer.

  6. Beautifies Skin

Antioxidant properties of white tea flushes toxins from the body, preventing toxins from accumulating and dulling the skin.

The polyphenols in white tea help to neutralize free radicals, helping the skin retain its elasticity and youthful qualities … along with many other health benefits such as decreasing the risk of “chronic and degenerative illness such as cancer, autoimmune disorders, aging, cataract, rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases.”

Our Raspberry Earl White Tea is a delectable blend of fine, organic white tea, dried organic raspberries with organic bergamot oil from Sicily, and is known as “a Tea for Beauty & Love.” It’s a cooling, lightly sweet tea that has skin-beautifying antioxidants & metabolism-boosting compounds.

  7. Reduces Inflammation

Remember the catechin EGCG found in white tea, that helps reduce the risk of heart disease mentioned in benefit #2? It can also help treat ailments like colds, viruses, and flu
