As tariffs rise and global costs shift, we'll be making some necessary price updates on our teas and apothecary jars soon. These changes reflect the very real increase in the cost of ingredients, materials, and the artisan sourcing we hold sacred.
Before this shift happens, I wanted to personally reach out with transparency and care.
If you've had a favorite blend on your wishlist—this is the time to consider adding it to your collection.
If your jar is running low—this might be a thoughtful moment to refill.
This isn't about creating panic—it's about sharing honest information with our community.
Starting May 2nd, a 145% tariff will be applied to teas and accessories from China. As a small, woman-owned American business, this presents significant challenges for us.
Many of our finest teas come from regions where they've been cultivated for thousands of years by artisan farmers passing down their craft through generations.
Puerh and Ti Quan Yin, for example, have been masterfully grown in China's remote villages for over 6,000 years. These exceptional teas simply cannot be sourced elsewhere—it would take decades to establish similar cultivation elsewhere.
Similarly, China has been the home of skilled craftspeople creating tea accessories for centuries. The metal and glass tea accessories we offer—strainers, teapots, and other tools—will all be subject to this 145% tariff. To illustrate how this will affect pricing (unless tea is somehow exempted from these tariffs—let's manifest this together!):
- The Opal Moon, Emerald Star, and Rose Quartz strainers will increase from $22 to $33 retail (with us absorbing a significant portion of the tariff)
- Sin Eraser/Bohemian Breakfast and other Chinese teas will increase 30-50% retail. For example, a pouch of Bohemian Breakfast will go from $27 to $44
I want to assure you that we are not adding any profit margin on top of these tariffs. In fact, we're only passing along a portion of the 145% increase while absorbing the rest ourselves. We're examining every aspect of our business to reduce overhead costs wherever possible, without compromising the quality and service you deserve.
I promise, with every cell in my being, that our mission remains unchanged: creating connection through tea. We will continue finding ways to keep our prices as accessible as possible during this challenging time.
